Worst Slack Off Ever!

Ah the lull of summer heat. It makes everything here in Ga slow down. The buzz of the grasshoppers combined with the hum of air conditioners with air so hot and sticky you feel like you swallow it more than breathe it in. And in the hot, humid, time I am usually zapped of energy for much of anything like the cows you see just laying around in the pastures up and down cumming highway!

So in this heat I have slacked off on here. More or less because it has become fairly much the same stuff on every day. Wake up, feed kids, go outside, noon come in for nap time and stay in through the hottest hours (noon til 4pm), go back outside, play til 8 or later, come in for baths, bed by 9:30 and then try to salvage some quiet alone time with brian. And in doing so, I have completely thrown off the functioning of the family because I have kids going to bed waaaay too late, which causes me and brian to stay up waaaay too late which cause me to be even MORE tired during the day. Starting yesterday I am trying to start reversing that!

So the last 2 weeks have been mostly unproductive. I spend my days struggling to kill the ever growing huge heap of laundry, and to try and find a way to make my children happy in pea soup weather. I dont care for summer. Its the truth. I like the activities that summer brings...love them as a matter of fact..but summer itself I cannot stand. I have started judging the length left in summer by my mountain hybiscus in the front yard. I know that by mid summer it starts to bloom...it gets massive towards the end of summer, and the beginning of fall for me (and I honestly just got hit with butterflies in my gut) is when I finally cant handle how big it is, and miss that corner of the front yard and decide to chop it down for the year. This usually doesnt happen until after it releases seed pods. So its grown half up my garage doors already...but not near time for a single bloom...and considering that it isnt even June 21st yet (the first official day of summer) I know I have a loooong time before its time to break out the halloween decor and scary movies and take a trip to to the moutains for Burt's Farm and boiled peanuts. (Sigh...either its butterflies or I am hungrier than my slim fast bar this morning).

So here it is, looking foggy this morning, I am actualy hoping for a rainy day. Its been a huge weekend. A huge...HOT..weekend. We had a birthday party on Saturday for our friends Daughter Alana. T-ball as well but I skipped it this weekend because I was so very tired. Brian found a huge snapping turtle in the road on the way home and brought it home. But when he got here we realized that it was wounded so bad he would surely die. So brian did the best ting he could and took it out back and put a single gun shot in its head. The turtle died immediately. Both brian and christopher were sad all day from it, but it was what had to be done. Sunday we got up early and just the 4 of us went to the lake. It was hot and packed there!! But it was so fun. We laughed all day. We made ice cold PB&Js under the canopy and played for hours. It did us all good. It was the first time we had spent time at the lake as just a family with no one else since last year. Its days like yesterday that I fall in love with my husband all over again. :) Last night we had dinner with Buffi (my friend across the street) and her two girls. It was hot dogs and mac and cheese and beans but the kids enjoyed it.

A few other things that happened this last 2 weeks:
Last week I was sitting at the table and Christopher was coloring. He told me he was making a calendar. He the proceeded to tell me the 7 days of the week in order with no help!!! I was amazed at how smart my little man was and shocked by the knowledge he had gotten from pre-k and wondered how much more he knows that I dont even know he does! Craziness!
Last week I also took the kids to the pool one day by myself. While there we decided to take a pool break and walk over to the park. While playing christopher closed the gate over his heel and sliced it badly. It is by far the worst cut in his 5 years on earth. Had it been any deeper or longer it would have been stitch worthy. He screamed of course, but was fine by the time we got home. He hobbled around like he had a broken ankle all afternoon but was good by the next morning.
Other than that there has been nothing really noteworthy this last 2 weeks. I know my blog will be jam packed soon enough with kindergarten starting and all that, but for now life is very un-eventful...and that works just fine for me! Maybe its summer break for life too!
Today there is nothing more than laundry, dishes, and cleaning planned. If the fog clears up I may take the kids outside, but I think I am going to take today to work on the family schedual some more.

Hope everyone that may read this tiny blog have a nice day. I am off to tackle to beast in the hamper!

xoxo
Robin
